Couple of things I have been working on

If you haven't seen me post for a couple of days, it's because I have had "stomach bug".  Here is some pictures of items that I did before I got the "bug" and something that I did today.

First of all I cleaned my machine, since I was sewing just about everyday this month, I thought that it may need cleaned... and I was right. No wonder it was giving me some trouble.

Now that the machine is all clean and free of lint.  I worked on a couple of blocks for our Guild's Bee.

This morning Pat Sloan posted this on Facebook so I had to try it..

Skill Builder BOM - Lesson 7 - Block Lesson

Pile O' Fabric - Block-Lesson-7 skill-builder-bom

I am catching up on my BOM projects that I have started. I know that I have a couple lessons that I haven't done yet on the Skill Builder - BOM, but they are foundation paper piecing and English paper piecing. Right now my printer isn't working to print out the templates. So as soon as I get a new printer I will get those done. Can't wait.

But for now here is what I have done so far for Lesson 7 - Blocks.

Haven't sewn the curves together yet. Hopefully I can get too them today.  This was really cool you have two blocks out of one.

If you haven't been doing the Skill Builder BOM you should check it out.  I have learned so much. I have always had the fear of curves and she has a great video to help you out.

Log Cabin for the Express Your Love Quilt

I have been working on the log cabin background for the  Express Your Love 2013 Quilt Along with Leah Day.

There will be over 30 log cabins in the back ground of this quilt.  I think that it's going to look so much better.

This is all that I have done on my Express Your Love Quilt Along.. Now that I have more time, I'm gonna get back into my FMQ.

Weekender Travel Bag

I went to a sewing retreat this weekend with the Springfield Modern Quilt Guild. Instead of making a quilt me and two theirs decided to make Amy Butler's "Weekender Travel Bag".

Here is mine that I made.  I used a old curtain panel that I had. I can't say that it was easy to do for being the first time putting piping on and all those layers, but it was wonderful to see the ending results.

One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block

I was searching the web this morning on if there was a easy way to do the Flying Geese.
Boy, I found a lot. But the one that I had to try was the one from Ricky Tims . "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block".

I am hoping that I'm not breaking any rules for showing this from You Tube.  If for any reason you can't watch if from my blog... go to YouTube and search for "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block" and it will come up. It will amaze you.

I just love watching Ricky and Alex.

Below are the "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block" that I sewed together and then the second one is sewn in a row.  They were so easy to make.

I hope you will try this method and let me know what you think about it.

Until tomorrow keep sewing.

Lesson 2 of the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along

Here is my block for Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along

I really like those colors.
I think the quilt is going to look really good when it's all put together. Here is the two lessons that we have completed so far. I think the first block is a little bright, but we will see after I do a couple more blocks.

Hand Sewing

This is what I sewed on 7-6-13, for Sew Every Day Challenge in July with Pat Sloan. I didn't have time to post this yesterday.

I started to sew my hexies together.  I really enjoy hand sewing I don't seem to do have time to do much of it, but this weekend was the perfect time. While in the car.

Yesterday I sewed a couple Hexies in the car.
Here's my thread and scissors in the cubbies in the door of the car.

This is what I have been sewing tonight. Not a lot of time. Been spending time with family today at the zoo.

Tomorrow we head back home.  I'll post more tomorrow night. Have a great night.

Tote - July 2013 Sew Every Day Challenge

Yesterday I was working on a challenge from my Modern Quilt Guild and thought that this would also work for Pat Sloan's July 2013 Sew every day challenge

At our Guild Meeting we draw names and whoever's name we draw we had to make something for them out of the  40 - 2 1/2 squares that they picked.   I draw "Lucy", so I'm going to make her a tote.

I have been doing HST a lot lately so of course I made more HST, but putting them together as a tote.  I have the exterior of the tote quilted.

Today I will be doing the handles, pockets and the liner.
Here is a picture of the tote so far.

Come back tomorrow and see the finished tote.
Happy Sewing!
