Snowflakes for Sandy Hook School

I was going through some blogs that I follow and found that the Embroidery Community is helping out Sandy Hook School. The PTA will welcome the students to their new school with a winter wonderland, and they are asking people to send snowflakes to decorate the school.
So the great people at Embroidery Library made one of their free standing lace snowflake ornament designs free for a limited time.
You can read more about the effort at the  PTA website here. If you have spare time this holiday season, please make a few snowflakes with this free lace design.
Here is some that I have made.
On this one I used the AquaMesh wash away stabilizer by OESD. I haven't rinsed it away yet.

On this one I used AquaFilm still need to rinse away also.

I plan on making more today. So I can get them out in the mall before all the traveling that I have to do this weekend.
I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year.

Modern Mystery Quilt

I don't know if you have heard about the Modern Mystery Quilt... check it out... should be fun...
I am just starting to get into the Modern Quilting, thought that I would give this a try also... boy I really like to keep busy... lol...

Attention all mystery quilt fans! It’s fresh, it’s fun, it’s free, and you will only find it at www.QuiltViews.com, the official blog site for the American Quilter’s Society and American Quilter magazine. Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr, authors of Quilts Made Modern and pioneers in the modern quilt movement, have designed a modern mystery quilt just for us, to be revealed in six weekly installments beginning September 12, 2012.

Not familiar with the mystery quilt concept? Each week, a new set of “clues” (cutting, sewing, and assembly instructions) will be posted on this blog site. The first installment includes yardage requirements, a few tips on choosing fabrics, and some initial cutting instructions, but you will not see a photo of the completed quilt until the last installment. (Yes, you could “cheat” and wait until the last installment to start, but then you’d miss all the fun and suspense of the project.)

And we have a great way for you to exchange ideas, techniques, work-in-progress photos, and encouragement with other quilters participating in this mystery quilt project. Visit www.MyQuiltPlace.com, a free and fun social media forum for quilters, and join our group: http://myquiltplace.com/group/modern-mystery-quilt. If you’re not yet a member of My Quilt Place, simply sign up to create your own home page, then take time to explore this great site and meet other quilters around the world.

Ok that's enough posting for today... I will be back tomorrow and show you some other projects that I am working on.... Have a great day...

My daughters wedding quilt.

Know that my daughters wedding is behind me, I'll show you the quilt that I made for her... I wanted to do the double wedding ring, but they changed the date from Jan 2013 to Sept 2012, so maybe for a Annv. gift.. Around the boarders is the 1st Corinthians ---- Love is kind, is patient etc...  Then on the bottom of the quilt I had each one of them give me 10 words on how they felt about each other and used them.. I also used the words on there ring barrier pillow.
In the corners I used part of my wedding dress and also on the back of the pillows.
Here is a picture of the ring barrier pillow. This is also made out of my wedding dress used the lace from my train...
Here is a picture of the beautiful bride and my son in law.

Done Moving - Pictures of my Sewing/Quilting Area

The move is done, almost done unpacking.. I thought that I would share some pictures of my Sewing/Quilting Area... It's not finished, just unpacked, I still need to put it all in its right places, but it's a start...
This one below is about a week later... after working on my daughters wedding quilt.
This is one side of the room, where I have some of my fabric put away.  The quilt that is in the picture is for my daughters wedding.  I wanted to do the double wedding ring, but she moved her wedding from January 2013 to September 8, 2012... so I really didn't have enough time to get it complete... but I did buy the AccuCut dies for the double wedding ring, I will make them one maybe for there first anniversary.
Speaking about the AccuQuilt here is a picture of where I store mine since I have a small room now...
Yep, its in my closet... great space for it, since it is so heavy I don't have move it.  I am able to cut the fabric right in there. Gonna need to get a light for the closet, but in time.
Now let me show you there rest of my sewing room...
More shelves and my Bernina 635, I love it.  I don't have a table for the machine yet, so it's sitting on the cabinet.  Which is fine to embroidery, but to actually sew it's a little hard..
Hanging on the wall is my very first quilt that I made... I even did the FMQ on it...  Also my computer area where I love to use my EQ7 to design some of the quilts that I have done.. which I will post some of those later.  I am just trying to get back into the swing of everything since the move.
Of course this is where I keep my software and little treasure peaces that I have received from family and friends...  you can also see some moving boxes in the back ground... Thank goodness unpacking is about done..
Now I can get back in the swing of all my challenges that I started back in January.  I think that I will be caught back up by the end of September.  The reason I say September is because, I still have things that I am making for my daughters wedding.  So after the wedding is over, I can start working on all of my quilts and challenge...    Also I will start post more often.
 Have a great day...
