Back Again

I can't believe that it has been since August that I posted anything to my blog.  Boy time fly's when your having fun. I have been super busy lately, I am working full time again (Love It) I am the Administration Assistant to the President of the company that I'm working for. Didn't really know if I wanted to get back into being assistant, but I really enjoy this position.

I'm going to be a grandma, yes my daughter and son-in-law is having a baby next July. I'm so excited about that. The only thing is that the baby will be born in Korea. They will be stationed over there for 3 years. So I will be saving all my extra money to go over there next July so see my first grand baby.

Know on to my quilting that I have been doing, not much, but I have been doing some.

My modern quilt guild has been doing Bee's each month. So I have been doing those blocks. I made another weekender, but can't show until after Christmas. (it's a gift).

I did 4 blocks for Luci - Modern Maples throw quilt I don't have pictures of those.

I made a couple of table runners. Here's one of them.

I will get back into posting to my blog. I promise!

I have an exciting year coming up. I will be creating a BOM for my guild. Which I will be posting on here each month. I created the BOM on my EQ7, and it's going to be paper piecing.

So if you would like to join this 2014 BOM, I will be posting the fabric information at the end of December.

Raining Day in Missouri

It's another raining day here in Missouri. That means more cutting fabric and sewing.
I have been cutting the pieces for DWR, I will start sewing them together today.

There is a craft show in October that some of the girls from the guild is going to have a booth. They have asked me if I would like to make some things for the booth.  Of course I said yes... but I haven't ever done anything to actually sell.  I seen these really cute dress form pincushions and thought that they would be good and then I thought about some mug rugs, bags and maybe a couple of baby quilts.

Here is my first attempt to making the dress form pincushion. (Still need some work)

The second one that I did, I used a lot of pins and curves looks much better.  These are like chips, you can't just eat one. I made three of them yesterday.  I just need to find something for the stands. They used candle sticks for their stands on the tutorial that I seen these on. But when we moved I sold all of mine.  So I need to get creative and find something.  Will post when I find something.

I am heading to my sewing room for the day.
Until next time, have a great day.

DWR - "Double Wedding Ring Challenge"

It's a raining day here in Missouri, so I decided to start practicing on my circle piecing for the DWR Challenge

I tried to sew the curves without pinning, but it just didn't work out for me.  So here is a picture of my pinning the curves it worked so much better.

Here is the project in progress.

Here is one completed.

Here is two put together.

I think that they are coming together very nicely. These are just practice pieces.

I worked in EQ7 last night and come up with a design that I like and thinking about doing for the challenge.  I imported the fabric that I will be using.
Starting next week I will be getting my Studio AccuQuilt out and start cutting fabric.  I love this die it makes cutting all these pieces of fabric out so easy. I will be posting more pictures of my progress.

Until my next post have a great day.

EQ7 Summer Drawing: Block 4 - EasyDraw + PatchDraw blocks

This is the last block for the  EQ7 Summer Drawing Series

I have really enjoyed this series.  I am challenging myself that for the month of August I am going to actually sew all these blocks together and make a wall hanging.  So hopefully by the end of August you will see the finished project.  (If I write it down, I most likely will complete it).

Here is a picture in fabric and also in solid colors.

I will be posting my progress through out the month on my blocks from this series and then the finished project.

Couple of things I have been working on

If you haven't seen me post for a couple of days, it's because I have had "stomach bug".  Here is some pictures of items that I did before I got the "bug" and something that I did today.

First of all I cleaned my machine, since I was sewing just about everyday this month, I thought that it may need cleaned... and I was right. No wonder it was giving me some trouble.

Now that the machine is all clean and free of lint.  I worked on a couple of blocks for our Guild's Bee.

This morning Pat Sloan posted this on Facebook so I had to try it..

Skill Builder BOM - Lesson 7 - Block Lesson

Pile O' Fabric - Block-Lesson-7 skill-builder-bom

I am catching up on my BOM projects that I have started. I know that I have a couple lessons that I haven't done yet on the Skill Builder - BOM, but they are foundation paper piecing and English paper piecing. Right now my printer isn't working to print out the templates. So as soon as I get a new printer I will get those done. Can't wait.

But for now here is what I have done so far for Lesson 7 - Blocks.

Haven't sewn the curves together yet. Hopefully I can get too them today.  This was really cool you have two blocks out of one.

If you haven't been doing the Skill Builder BOM you should check it out.  I have learned so much. I have always had the fear of curves and she has a great video to help you out.

Log Cabin for the Express Your Love Quilt

I have been working on the log cabin background for the  Express Your Love 2013 Quilt Along with Leah Day.

There will be over 30 log cabins in the back ground of this quilt.  I think that it's going to look so much better.

This is all that I have done on my Express Your Love Quilt Along.. Now that I have more time, I'm gonna get back into my FMQ.

Weekender Travel Bag

I went to a sewing retreat this weekend with the Springfield Modern Quilt Guild. Instead of making a quilt me and two theirs decided to make Amy Butler's "Weekender Travel Bag".

Here is mine that I made.  I used a old curtain panel that I had. I can't say that it was easy to do for being the first time putting piping on and all those layers, but it was wonderful to see the ending results.

One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block

I was searching the web this morning on if there was a easy way to do the Flying Geese.
Boy, I found a lot. But the one that I had to try was the one from Ricky Tims . "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block".

I am hoping that I'm not breaking any rules for showing this from You Tube.  If for any reason you can't watch if from my blog... go to YouTube and search for "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block" and it will come up. It will amaze you.

I just love watching Ricky and Alex.

Below are the "One Seam Flying Geese Quilt Block" that I sewed together and then the second one is sewn in a row.  They were so easy to make.

I hope you will try this method and let me know what you think about it.

Until tomorrow keep sewing.

Lesson 2 of the Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along

Here is my block for Aiming for Accuracy Quilt-Along

I really like those colors.
I think the quilt is going to look really good when it's all put together. Here is the two lessons that we have completed so far. I think the first block is a little bright, but we will see after I do a couple more blocks.

Hand Sewing

This is what I sewed on 7-6-13, for Sew Every Day Challenge in July with Pat Sloan. I didn't have time to post this yesterday.

I started to sew my hexies together.  I really enjoy hand sewing I don't seem to do have time to do much of it, but this weekend was the perfect time. While in the car.
