Last two block for the BOM block 11 and block 12

Today I am sharing with you the last two blocks for the BOM- Modern Stain Glass Paper Piecing.
I hope you that you have enjoyed this BOM. This was my first BOM hosting, I do apologize for not being timely on my post and not doing as many videos as I wanted. My next BOM will be more organized. I have actually learned a lot on doing this series.  
So on with the last two blocks.

To finish up the BOM I added 2" strips around each block and the sewed them together.

I have missed posting video's this last month. If I have time this month I think that I will do a couple video's on Paper Piecing with freezer paper.  It is so easy to do and you don't have all those small pieces to tear off.

Happy New Year "2014"

Happy New Year to everyone. Sure hope 2014 is a better year for me on blogging, I started off pretty good. But then life hit and it was a while before I blogged.

This year I am doing a BOM for my Modern Quilt Guild. So each month I will be posting the blocks on here. This will be paper piecing. Come back on the first Thursday of each month and I will be posting the blocks.

My husband was great this year for Christmas and really listened to what I wanted. I needed a new camera so that I could get better pictures of my quilts in progress. I always wanted a serger, this is a great beginner one I believe, I have already made two quilts with it so far. (pictures following). He also made this thread holder for me. I had all my thread in a large basket. Now I can see them all on the wall.  Then, he purchased all the misc. items that I mentioned that I would like to have. He even went to a quilt shop and got me some fat quarters. A year ago he had no idea what a fat quarter was.  I love it that my husband supports my hobby.

Here are the two quilts that I made with the serger.

I have been quilting/sewing even though I haven't posted much.  Here are a couple other items that I made before Christmas. I made a weekend tote for my mother-in-law, some fabric scrap baskets, I found this fat quarter bag pattern that I had to try (the small one is great for gift cards, made from a 5" square). And, then I have been working on the Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice Mystery!

I believe this will be all for tonight. I will be back tomorrow to post the BOM.

Couple of things I have been working on

If you haven't seen me post for a couple of days, it's because I have had "stomach bug".  Here is some pictures of items that I did before I got the "bug" and something that I did today.

First of all I cleaned my machine, since I was sewing just about everyday this month, I thought that it may need cleaned... and I was right. No wonder it was giving me some trouble.

Now that the machine is all clean and free of lint.  I worked on a couple of blocks for our Guild's Bee.

Weekender Travel Bag

I went to a sewing retreat this weekend with the Springfield Modern Quilt Guild. Instead of making a quilt me and two theirs decided to make Amy Butler's "Weekender Travel Bag".

Here is mine that I made.  I used a old curtain panel that I had. I can't say that it was easy to do for being the first time putting piping on and all those layers, but it was wonderful to see the ending results.

Tote - July 2013 Sew Every Day Challenge

Yesterday I was working on a challenge from my Modern Quilt Guild and thought that this would also work for Pat Sloan's July 2013 Sew every day challenge. 

At our Guild Meeting we draw names and whoever's name we draw we had to make something for them out of the  40 - 2 1/2 squares that they picked.   I draw "Lucy", so I'm going to make her a tote. 

                  

 

I have been doing HST a lot lately so of course I made more HST, but putting them together as a tote.  I have the exterior of the tote quilted. 

Today I will be doing the handles, pockets and the liner.

Springfield Modern Quilt Guild Challenge for May

Can you believe it, it's not the end of the month and I am posting....

For our Guild Challenge it was to take 8 - 2 1/2 strips of modern fabric and make something, anything....  so here is what I did with those 8 strips and some white fabric.

I took the strips and cut them 7 1/2 in. each and added white strips around them. Then with the extra pieces I made some circles on the back.  With having the straight lines on the front, I decide to quilt some swirls to break up all the straight lines.

This was a fun challenge, no pattern, just started piecing fabric together...
