New Ironing Board Cover

My Ironing board cover has seen better days. I've had it for more than 10 years, so it's about time for a new one. I went to see how much they where at the store, then realized I could make that for less. I already have fabric that I don't think that I wouldn't use in a quilt right now anyway.

So I made a new one today.   I even sewed the cording back on it to make it tight underneath.

Here's my new cover... Now I just need to get a new iron to go with it...

Got to love all the flowers!

Nice and colorful!

The 350 Blocks Project: 2013 - May Count

My May Count for the 350 Blocks Project: 2013 with Prairie Moon Quilts

Here is the running total of the blocks that I have done each month.  I can't believe how many I have done so far this year, I will keep track of the blocks until the end of the year, just to see how many I do in a year. I've never done that before. So it will be exciting.

Yearly Counts by Month.
Running Total = 438
January = 32
February = 246
March = 50
April = 15
May = 95

Surprise we had a bonus this month for the EQ7 Summer Drawing Series Sew Along! Go to

EQ7 Summer Drawing: Block 1–EasyDraw

I have been doing the EQ7 Summer Drawing.

EQ7 Summer Drawing: Block 1–EasyDraw

Here is my first block. I still need to put it in a quilt.

These lessons are going to be great, because I have had the program for almost 4 years and haven't done much with it until this summer.  I'm gonna do every month. I may not put it into a quilt but I will make the time to do the lessons.
If you haven't checked this draw and sew along yet go to Do You EQ's Blog and check it out.

Springfield Modern Quilt Guild Challenge for May

Can you believe it, it's not the end of the month and I am posting....

For our Guild Challenge it was to take 8 - 2 1/2 strips of modern fabric and make something, anything....  so here is what I did with those 8 strips and some white fabric.

I took the strips and cut them 7 1/2 in. each and added white strips around them. Then with the extra pieces I made some circles on the back.  With having the straight lines on the front, I decide to quilt some swirls to break up all the straight lines.

This was a fun challenge, no pattern, just started piecing fabric together...

April post

It's been about a month since I blogged.. With working full time, I don't get much time to quilt or even blogging... but I am going to make my self try to blog at least once a month, so here it is on the last day of the month. I found some time, before dinner to write about what I did for the month of April, not much quilting, but I did do some.
I signed up for a couple of Craftsy classes.
"The Machine Embroidered Quilt" with Eileen Roche.
here is a picture of a couple of the blocks from her class.

I did 5 of these so far

Also did 5 of these

 This one has 5 in a row, I think that I should have done my background threads in a different color so they would have stood out, but it was my first attempt.
When I complete the entire quilt I will post pictures of it.

The other class that I signed up for are:
Design It, Quilt It with Cindy Needham
Designing Modern Quilts with Weeks Ringle
Pieced Hexies with Mickey Depre
Pre Cut Piecing Made Simple with Camille Roskely
and also
Free-Motion Quilting with Feathers by Angela Walters.

I can't believe that I singed up for all those, but I couldn't help it, I love the Craftsy platform, I can watch them anytime I wont.

Oh I almost forgot about Free Motion Fillers, Vol 1 with Leah Day.
Here are some pictures of the quilt that I am working on for her class:
I actual did these blocks in March 50 blocks

So there is some of what I have been working on for the month of April when I'm not working.
