Skill Builder BOM

Worked on my  Skill-Builder-Block-of-the-Month This is the first BOM. There's two this month and also some FMQ, but I only got one done today. The FMQ will be posted later this month.  I really enjoyed doing it.. mainly cause I haven't been able to quilt for days.... Having the flu is awful.  Felling better today so thought that I would work on this BOM.

I also made a Round Bottomed Fabric storage basket to put all my scraps in for this BOM. One of the girls from my quilting guild showed this, so I thought that I would try it. Here is the tutorial from www.filminthefridge.com,
It was really easy to make and fun.

So this is how I spend my first day out of my bedroom... It was really relaxing. I know don't over do it, I wont.... I just love to quilt....
Until tomorrow or it may be Monday since I haven't been able to spend any time with my husband this week either, so I will be spending the weekend with him.
Thanks

Having the Flu sucks... not much quilting

I have had the flu and haven't been doing much except for resting... Today was the first day that I have been out of my bedroom... So of course what did I do.... I had too do some quilting... will show what I did in another post.
Just wanted to let you know that I am still here....
Thanks

Didn't do much quilting, did something else.....

I didn't get much quilting done today. I got my drawing pad out and did some Zentangles.  My mother-in-law bought me a couple of books, I love them. Here are a couple pictures of what I have done with them... wouldn't they look good in a quilt... hmmm maybe someday....

I really like this one, I was working on my feathers and swirls.

I ordered another class from Craftsy.com today, it's called Shoot-It. The instructor is Caro Sheridan.  She's a great teacher so far... I have only watched a couple of the course.  I am hoping that I will be able to take better pictures in the near future. We will see....

Until tomorrow...

The Something New Sampler Blog Hop

Today I would like to share with you a fun blog hop that is starting
this month at thecutelifesmiles.blogspot.com
The something new sampler!

Looking for your next project?
Resolved to learn some new sewing skills this year?
Want to win some great prizes?

Then join in the blog hop for The Something New Sampler!

Each week, one or two bloggers will present a block tutorial with an
uncommonly used technique. There will be a total of 9 blocks presented.
And, just to mix it up, we're going with a funky modern block size - 7" x 14"!
We'll have plenty of suggestions on how to use this block shape along the way.
There's no need for our modern blocks to always be square :)

Here's our schedule:

Jan 14th
Amy @ thecutelifesmiles.blogspot.com | Bargello piecing

Jan 21st
Heidi @ buttonsandbutterflies.com | folding
Chelsea @ pinsandbobbins.blogspot.co.uk | a scraptastic technique

Jan 28th
Jess @ theelvengarden.blogspot.com.au | sashiko
Lindsay @ lindsaysews.com | reverse applique

Feb 4th

Heidi @ fabricmutt.blogspot.com | cathedral windows

Feb 11th
Alyssa @ pileofabric.com | pinless curves
Becky @ myfabricobsession.blogspot.com | machine applique

And stop by the cute life on Fridays for tips and tutorials on how to set these
rectangular blocks! Posts will be up on the following dates:
Jan 18, Jan 25, Feb 1, Feb 8, Feb 15

Be sure to join the flickr group to keep up with the hop, the chatter, and some
inspirational photos.

Bernina Club

Sorry for not posting yesterday...
It was a busy day. Went to Bernina Club. I really enjoy going to those meetings. It was a great meeting sorta funny cause we talked about couching feet and I am taking a great class  Stupendous Stitching by Carol Ann Waugh from the Craftsy - Platform I really enjoy this platform.
I can take this course anytime I wont and never lose it.
So this meeting was right up my ally.
I will post some pictures later of what I have been working on in the Craftsy - Stupendous-Stitching-Adventures-in-Surface-Design.

Until later.....

Changing one of my Goals Already

Ok I am going to be changing one of my goals already... can you guess which one... yep... it's the one about post to my blog daily... I have all intentions to write something daily.  But on the weekends its sorta hard, cause those days I spend with my husband, since it works all week. On the weekends is our time to go places, and do things together...  So if I miss one day on the weekend don't get upset... cause I will be back during the week....

Ok on what my husband and I did on Saturday... he took me shopping, I know you are thinking ok what's so big about that... Well we didn't just go clothes shopping we went FABRIC shopping.... Here in Springfield and then we drove to Branson.  Spent a wonderful day together.  Then that night we drove to Joplin.... shhhhh don't tell anyone... we was that close to home and didn't see anyone... but it was like about 10 pm before we got there. Went to eat and then over to the Casino... Haven't done that in a great while.  It was fun.  No I didn't win anything, but it was still fun...

Any way back to the fabric, Here is the start of my fabric for the Skill Builder Block of the Month that Pile o Fabric is doing this year...

New Fabric

OK don't know what's going on but not able to post any pictures tonight... I will try again in the morning..

In the meantime, I just got back from my Modern Quilt Guild meeting.  It was pretty good, low attendance but it will get better. Got to think positive.  I missed last month due to having the flu.
But we are doing a HST (Half-Square Triangle) Block of the Month by In Color Order. This was actualy last years BOM, but who cares. So I got January and February tonight.  Last month I seen what they were going to do and I created one in red, white and blue. I will try and post a picture tomorrow of it.
Well since I can't post any pictures tonight.  I will sign off.
Until Tomorrow.
Thanks

My Quilting Resolutions / Goals for 2013

Hey everyone I bet you thought that I was already going to miss one of my resolutions.  Nope I am here today, maybe a little later than I wanted it to be. but I made it two days in a row... by I'm on a roll... lol....
Anyways, for my 2013 Quilting Resolutions / Goals.. I am putting goals there, because for some reason when I put Goals down I seem to get them done, rather than resolutions.

1)  Learn New Skills -Alyssa at Pile o' Fabric is doing a Skill Builder BOM.
The BOM will have a total of 20 blocks, 2 blocks per month.  On Thursday, January 17th, 2013 she will post the first lesson, each lesson will be posted on the the 3rd Thursday of the month.
Here are the techniques that she will be working through:
  • Basic Patchwork Piecing
  • Impro Piecing
  • Strip Piecing
  • Foundation Paper Piecing
  • English Paper Piecing
  • Curves Piecing
  • Applique
  • Pixel Piecing
  • Log Cabin Piecing.
January through October she will be piecing all quilting the blocks. In November will be adding the borders and in December she will be piecing the blocks and borders together!
Go to Pile o' Fabric and see all the information.

2) Continue working on my FMQ (Free Motion Quilting) - Leah Day
at  The Free Motion Quilting is doing "Express Your Love"
Leah has a great video on what to look forward too. Check out her link above.
I have taken one of Leah's Craftsy class and she is a wonderful teacher.
I am looking forward to 2013 with her FMQ.

3) Social - I know you asking what??? What I mean for this is to be
more active in my Modern Quilting Guild
and start going to the different shows in the area, just mainly
get out of my comfort zone and go out and meet other quilters.

4) My Own Designs - This one is a big one for me....
I am wanting to work on some of my own designs and actual get it from the
computer and into a quilt.  I did do 2 in 2012 (last year) which I will post
pictures later.  I also want to start working on a quilt to
enter into a major show.

Ok those are my Resolutions/Goals for 2013. I don't think that
they are that bad to keep up with. It's just making sure that I do them...
Oh I almost forgot one... it could go under #3 Social, that is to at
least post something every day to my blog... it could be about anything.

I know that I actually typed a lot tonight.  Just wait till tomorrow,
I will have lots of pictures to post.
I got 20 or more yards of fabric for Christmas that I washed, ironed,
folded and put away, but more about that tomorrow.
Have a great night until tomorrow.
Thanks

New Year 2013

As my husband and I was going over everything that happened to us in 2012, we looked at each other and smile at the same time. He got a new job in another town, we moved, I haven't worked since May (Had a lot of time to learn more on quilting). My daughter got married. My husband lost over 90 lbs, I lost over 40. (Still have a way to go). We started cycling and going to the gym together. We have gone through a lot over the last year together. That's the big think is that we did it all together, it made our marriage stronger.
My word for this year is IMPossible. You can look at two ways. I'm Possible and can achieve anything or that is just so impossible, I've got to try.
So I'm going to try and post something every day to my blog, even if its not all about quilting.
Tomorrow I will post all my New Year resolutions. That I hope to keep this year.
Happy 2013!
Until Tomorrow
